Stony Stratford Futures Group aimed to celebrate the heritage of the boatyard, and bring it to a wider audience by commissioning a public work of art. Milton Keynes Council endorsed this project and encouraged SSFG to appoint an artist, Chris Johns, to interpret this historic activity by investigating , designing and installing this work.
