Business bullshit

Spicer, André2018
Books
Our organisations are flooded with empty talk. We are constantly 'going forward' to lands of 'deliverables', stopping off on the 'journey' to 'drill down' into 'best practice'. This book channels Harry Frankfurt to characterise such empty talk as bullshit which makes no reference to truth. Management scholar André Spicer investigates the advantages of business bullshit as well as its costs. The book shows how the creation and propagation of bullshit has been industrialised by marketers but is rife in business life generally - from the entrepreneur, through the human resources manager to the finance department. The author concludes with suggestions of how to minimise business bullshit - reconnecting aspects of organisations with core activities.
