From June 2024 to July 2025 the MK LGBTQ+ Heritage Project interviewed over 180 people whose lived experiences have spanned 50 years of LGBTQ+ community life in Milton Keynes. An archive has been created of over 1000 documents: news cuttings, photographs, flyers, letters, posters, reports, and community newsletters. The LGBTQ+ community were at the centre of the project at every stage, sharing their stories during History Clubs and Heritage walks. Every conversation, activity and event revealed new information and understandings, that all helped to make this shared experience complete. 'MK Q:mmunity tales - local LGBTQ+ history since 1967' brings this all together in one place for the first time. It wouldn't have been possible without the incredible generosity of so many people who have shared their stories, memorabilia and time.
