A pregnant 18-year-old pizza delivery girl is grieving the recent loss of her father and struggling to visualise her impending future when she receives an unusual order. Jenny Hauser, a 40-something stay-at-home mother who has just moved to the area, needs a large pepperoni-and-pickles pizza to console her son and only our narrator can help her. As the orders become a regular occurrence, the narrator finds herself craving Jenny's dependency and company, even when it is at the detriment of her relationship with her doting mother and boyfriend.
